Movie Poster
I've mention in my Bites and Bits of my Weekend 10/11  that was watching this film, so I've decided to write about it, because, I like Tim Burton's films, and also because tales and myths are really a thing of mine.

Sleepy Hollow is a 1999 movie, classified as horror/ mystery/ thriller kind.
You probably know it's a Tim Burton movie and it's great (to me).

I rated as 5 star photography, landscape and scenery very detailed and made. The plot is well constructed, it as little bit of fantasy, horror and mystery, and also a bit of romance. The garment and clothes are stunning. Trully a movie to re watch and watch again, and again.

Actors worthy to mention Jonny Depp as Ichabod Crane (main character), Christina Ricci as Katrina Van Tassel, Michael Gambon (Professor Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter movies) as Baltus Van Tassel and Christopher Walken  as Hessian Horseman (The Headless Horseman), among others like Miranda Richardson, Casper Van Dien, Jeffrey Jones, Richard Griffiths, Ian McDiarmid and Michael Gough.

The movie plot is inspired in

"The Legend of Sleepy Hollow"

, a short story by Washington Irving contained in his collection The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, first published in 1820.
The short story is inspired in The Legend of Headless Horseman. The origin of the legend is uncertain, mainly because there is a lot of similar stories. The oldest "records" of the legend come from the middle age, in Europe.
There are a lot of cinema adaptations of the short story, but I am quite sure that there is no other like Tim Burton's.
Leave you with the trailer.

I found the short story, and quickly reed it, it's quite different from the plot, but it's fun and interesting, although in a very 19th century style of writing.
If you like to read the original short story, you can find it here
