Sting in the ear | Portugal the Man

Portugal. The Man is an American rock band based in Portland, Oregon, but originally from Wasilla, Alaska.
Lead singer John Gourley creates all the art work for every album cover, t-shirt and tour poster.
The band left Alaska and went to Portland with the intent of recording and touring. The band recorded demos in the summer of 2004 and followed this with a tour with Chiodos that fall.
The Man's debut record Waiter: "You Vultures!" was released by Fearless Records on January 24, 2006.

I found this band last year through Facebook. Some friend share one of their musics, and I got curious and started to look more things.
Their name was what caught my eye, you know Portugal, I had to know a little bit more about them. I found that I enjoy their music, a lot. Not just the CD versions of the music, but the also the live, and specially the acoustic versions. Some of theirs acoustic versions are absolutely magic!!

Bites and Bits of My Weekend | 25/26

So this was kind of busy and also a bit symbolic weekend.
On Saturday it was the end of workshop about write and illustration giving by Isabel Minhós Martins (writing) and Madalena Matoso (illustration), both co-founders of publishing house Planeta Tangerina. It as been wonderful experience, during the month of February (on Saturdays), this workshop. It help me a lot see things with other eyes, and another perspective. Totally worthy it!! I've also met some cool people there, which is always a big plus when we go for this kind of events.
Tomorrow starts the 2nd semester, and I'm still a little stuck with my master project, but I hope during this next couple weeks a finally but myself together and actually do something! Oh I'm also starting some new classes, more Illustration classes! This school year it's really becoming the workshop year! Which is wonderful in my point of view. I've totally done, so far, two (one about general illustration, and this one mentioned above). Back in October I've started one of drawing and that it's going to last all year (until the end of June), and tomorrow I'll be starting one about illustration! I'm really excited!

That summarizes my state of mind, and also my weekend!
Today was more a relaxing day, the morning was spend by the sea practising some photography, the lunch was late and at my grandma's house. The rest of the day was plain boring with me organizing some things for the week.
I think that's all for the day, Have a nice week!!! & enjoy some of my photos from today.

Sting in the ear | Lana del Rey

I must confess that at first time I didn't wanted to ear her, I thought I ear already too many music (which is a dumb thought, because, you never ear too much music), and search her through Youtube and I got hooked!
Along with Carnival music (loud, funky, sometimes funny, or even nonsense music) that's pretty much what I've been listening to.

JACOB BROWN in TMagazine says:
"Curvaceous and pretty in a dress, she brims with catchy songs, all a bit retro, ironic and modern. Without straying too far off the pop grid, she’s the perfect antidote to Rihanna-Gaga overload — dare we say, a skinnier Adele, a more stable Amy Winehouse? Since posting “Video Games” to YouTube last summer, she’s amassed tens of millions of hits, sold out concerts to fashion’s who’s who and now, finally, has released her long-awaited album, which is currently No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 in America, and No. 1 in Britain, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland and Austria. If you were going to manufacture a star for this moment, you’d manufacture her. Some people believe that’s precisely what happened."

I don't know about being or not manufactured (and I don't care much either). Besides her being gorgeous with all that vintage vibe going on, she has a nice voice, and her music is very easy to listening to, in my opinion. So making it short, I like it, I will probably will listening for a while, and then I might had enough of it and change for something else, or I can keep coming back to it. Only time will tell.
